Owen Taylor recently attended the Meat Management Awards as guests where we were national finalists in two categories. The coveted Britain’s Best Butcher’s Shop and England’s Best Burger Challenge the Foodservice category.
Our shop was a finalist in the Best Butcher’s Shop award along with three other shops from across the country. The judges’ comments regarding the finalists were both positive and encouraging, detailing that the finalists this year showed ‘innovation and hard work’ along with ‘flare and enthusiasm’. Paul Swain, our Shop Manager, was delighted with the judges’ comments and found the experience extremely rewarding, stating ‘My team and I take great pride in being a finalist for this award. We work hard every day to produce excellent quality produce for our customers and recognition for this is overwhelming. We have many more ideas to put in place before next year’s awards so watch this space’.
The England’s Best Burger Challenge comprised of four categories. Owen Taylor won the Foodservice category with it’s ‘Champion Lamb Burger’. Hugh Judd, EBLEX foodservice manager said ‘Owen Taylor’s Lamb and Mint burger really was outstanding and definitely deserved to win the Foodservice category’. Using Quality Standard Mark Lamb which is sourced locally and an innovative team we were able to create a fantastic product that we are extremely proud of. Presenting the award for the Best Burger Challenge was Hugh Judd and Sir Geoff Hurst MBE (former international footballer).
